I really want to collect some multi-words, which are frequently used in English language. Dear teacher, please let me know on how to find them with some examples. It means that multi-words could be used differently based on the parts of speech. Could you please explain this section with a little elaboration?

The English language is rich with "multi-words", and the same set of multi-words could be placed differently in the construction of sentences.
For example, "close to"
Close to (as an adverb)
The concert lasted close to two hours.
Close to (as a preposition)
The child is close to the mother.
Could you please give me a little elaboration about multi-words with some examples?
