Do you play chess? I used to play when I was a kid. I was in the chess club in elementary school. I lived in Montreal and it was very cold in the winter. Everyone joined the lunchtime chess club to avoid going outside! To be honest, I can't remember how to play. Will you teach me?Do you know how to play chess? Can you explain the rules to me in English? Can you offer a hint about strategy? I'm hoping it will all come back to me.Here is some vocabulary to use. Let's begin by the movement of the pieces. The King can move in any direction but his range is limited to one square, on the other hand the Queen moves similarly to King but has unlimited range. The Rook, also known as Tower, can move horizontally and vertically without any range restriction. The knight, also known as horse, can move in L through the chessboard and has a peculiar characteristic because it is the only piece that can leap over the other pieces on the table. The Bishop works like Rook but instead of moving horizontally and vertically, it moves in the diagonal. The Pawn is a special piece, it moves in the vertical and his range is limited to one square, though it can advance two squares in his first play and it can only eat other pieces in diagonal with his range limited to one square too. Once a pawn reaches to the last row of the chessboard he is advancing, it becomes ranked as a Queen.
