An advert about the life of a Polish English learner. This is heartwarming! Learning a new language is not about age and ethnicity. Happy Christmas!Czasami brakuje słów, by wyrazić to, co najważniejsze. W takim przypadku trzeba się ich po prostu nauczyć. #Allegro #CzegoSzukasz #angielski #święta #iloveyo...

  • Hi, Valentina!

Welcome to MyEC! I couldn't agree more. Your niece is a polyglot and it's good for her to understand the culture of her parents as well as speak other languages. Besides, speaking in different languages could prevent us from acquiring Alzheimer's disease.

Our mother tongue represents an identity of our country and we should be proud of it. Thank you for sharing your experience! Wishing you a meaningful stay on our club!

    Robbie :)

  • Funny and sad at the same time. To my mind, children should know their roots, their mother's and father's languages. My brother created an international family, and from the very beginning of his daughter's birth he spoke to her only Ukrainian. Her mother (my sister-in-law) spoke to the child only her native Japanese. As her parents spoke English between themselves, my niece could understand it too. The first five or six years of her life her family lived in Moscow, so she spoke Russian in the street, in the kindergarten etc. Then they lived in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, and my niece went to Kyiv International School with American teachers, so now she sounds like a native English speaker. At school she started to learn French. After four years of university in Japan, she studied for her Master Degree in Paris. Now she is studying Chinese in Beijing. It's her sixth language. She spoke Ukrainian to her Ukrainian grandparents, and she speaks Japanese to her Japanese grandma. I think, people shouldn't forget their parents' and grandparents' tongue.
