Here in Ukraine the ground floor is the first floor too. But now I am confused, which way of calling the ground floor is more logical, British or American.
I should remember all those words and expressions.

Thank you for sharing the British expressions! Some of the words have very different meaning. Non-native speakers should at least understand common expressions so they wouldn't left behind in the conversation and avoid miscommunication.
