It was first in the second year of my middle school that I found myself interested in math. Through the time, my interest to math grew and let me to choose the math major at the high school. I ranked 206th among more than 300,000 participants in the Nationwide University Entrance Exam in 2010 and entered Sharif University of Technology which is the most prestigious and selective university in Iran.
In the university, I chose electrical engineering as my undergraduate major as it was deemed the top engineering major in my country. In the first three semesters, I tried hard and I was among top students in my major. But at the end of the third semester, I had a problem related to my family which caused me to quite the fourth semester and make weak results in the following two semesters. After the sixth semester, I returned to my success route as I took the most important courses of my major in the seventh and eighth semesters and succeeded to achieve good grades, and once again become among the top students.
After graduation in B.Sc., I ranked 7th in M.Sc. National Exam in Fall 2014, and I also ranked 7th in the National Electrical Engineering Olympiad in Summer 2015. I chose Communications System as my M.Sc. major in EE department of SUT to start doing professional research on my genuine love, wireless and optical communications, under supervision of one of the most renowned professors of Sharif, namely Prof. Jawad A. Salehi, and at his high-tech optical networks research lab (ONRL).
My long-term appetence is to become a prominent scientist, and I believe my abilities, background,
and interests well match with this goal. First, I gained significant teaching experience
when I was a TA for some courses, like Optimization and Statistical Processes, at SUT. Second, I developed a strong research experience in different
fields of Communications since the past two years through working at ONRL. And third, I really enjoy working on the edge of science to help surmounting barriers to its progress. However, I am yet in the initial steps and need a significant maturation to reach my ultimate goal; and that is why I am resolute in pursuing my Ph.D. studies.
I have carefully searched the University of California, Irvine’s homepage for a comprehensive information about the current research themes, and I found that Irvine has a lot of unique and active research groups supported by the best professors in various fields of Communications. Now I would like to pursue my Ph.D. studies in areas related to Wireless Communications and Networking, and I found that Irvine has an excellent collection of the most outstanding professors in this field like Prof. Jafar, Prof. Ayanoglu, and Prof. Swindlehurst. I hope that the admission committee finds my background and interests commensurate with the requirements of EECS Ph.D. program. I undertake if I obtain this opportunity, I employ all of my diligence and intelligence to become one of the best graduate students of your esteemed university.
