Read a text about Amelia Earhart and then answer the comprehension questions. If you answer more than 70% of the comprehension questions correctly you will get a chance to play a game of Tic-Tac-Toe. After 100 seconds of playing another exercise appears. This time you have to complete the text with the past simple of the verbs in brackets. The quiz and games can be found at http://www.aj3000.org/A_Earhart_past%20simple/aearhart_past_simple.html.

Comic graded reader

Comics are very popular among students. But at the same time they can serve as graded readers which are extremely useful for learners of English.

Zudo is a young boy who lives in the jungle and helps others. His comic adventure is available for elementary students at http://www.aj3000.org/Zudo%20and%20the%20Black%20Orchid/zudo%20and%20orchid.html

Under the text there is a game to check your comprehension and you can say how you liked the story.

Mobile phones

Students spend a lot of time using their mobile phones which irritates the teachers. How about giving them a chance to learn on their mobiles??
My latest grader reader for learners of English is a story by Jack London called The Taste of the meat. It has been simplified for pre-intermediate learners of English and if you access the page from your mobile phone, it will display the story and you can read it without any problem.
Of course, it will display the story on your computer and there is comprehension game too.

Edgar Wallace is best known as the co-creator of King Kong. However, at his time he was incredibly popular and he wrote a lot of stories.
I have simplified and shortened one of his detective stories and turned it into a graded reader for intermediate students of English. It is called The Poetical Policeman and you can read it at

It is really difficult to write graded readers for elementary students. However, I have managed to produce two readers for this level.

Alina in Hospital - a nice story with a happy ending at

http://aj3000.com/wp/free-graded-readers/alina-in-hospital/

The Storm - a detective story about a young boy who saves the whole farm.
