It has been my privilege for the last 5 years to be involved with many people from many foreign lands who have come to Canada, either as short-term students, new immigrants to Canada, or who have been here for many years, to help them to learn conversational English. I have learned, myself, to greatly respect their courage and determination to make English an important part of their day-to-day experiences.
I work with many other volunteers in this endeavor. Our joy is in the friendships we have built that often find extensions back into the homelands of some who take their experiences here back to their native cultures, families, and friends.
