Shelly lived in Washington and she was really sceptical about men. It was due to her bad experience with her former boyfriend who had cheated her. She hadn’t gone out for a date for a long time. She had a funny thought that she was immune to men already.  One day, Shelly went to an amusement park with her friend, Lily. They had cotton candies and ice lollies there. While they were walking and chatting, a man suddenly bumped into Shelly. Shelly started getting angry but she became dumbstruck when she saw the man. He was really a handsome man with a great smile. The man apologized to her repeatedly and introduced himself as Ben.  He told them that he had just moved there from New York. Well, Shelly was really infatuated with his smile. So, she wasn’t immune to men as shehad thought. Ben asked for Shelly’s card and walked quickly to the streetcar as he said he had an important meeting.

After a week, Ben called her and invited her for  dinner at a restaurant. Ben was a true gentleman. He opened the door and held her to sit down.  He ordered delicious appetizers for them. Besides, the entree, side dish, salad, the dressing were really superb too. The true American dish, medium rear steaks were really delicious. They had a wonderful time together getting to know each other. It was a perfect date indeed.

                The next weekend, they were on the road again. They were going for their second date.  It was raining heavily at that time and the windshield of Ben’s car was getting blurry. So, they had to slow down.  Suddenly, the car broke down. Fortunately, they were not far from Ben’s apartment. So, they went there instead. They were really wet because of the rain. So, Shelly went to the bathroom, to refresh herself. When she came out, Ben presented her a big box. Shelly was surprised with the present. Ben asked her to open it. Inside the box were a teddy and an evening gown. Ben told her that she could put on the evening gown for  dinner because he had hired a car for them.

         While Ben was in the other room, Shelly put on her new evening gown and had a hot latte. It was really refreshing. When Ben came out, he really looked very handsome. He was a true American man having on the pants, suspenders, tuxedo and all the rest.  Shelly melted. “Oh my, how fortunate I am. He is not just handsome man but a true gentleman”, she thought. She hoped that Ben would be her boyfriend. Afterwards, they went out for dinner.  To Shelly’s great surprise, the restaurant was decorated beautifully, not as usual. Suddenly, Ben gave her a bouquet of red roses and asked her to be his girlfriend. Well, of course Shelly accepted it. She was really happy because Ben was a perfect American man for her. Then, Ben told her the real truth that his car was not broken at all. He just wanted to surprise his perfect woman. I’m sure there will be a wedding reception soon.

Mary works in an advertising company and has a new colleague. His name is Mark. His handsome look catches much of ladies’ attention in the office but Mary doesn’t like him at all.  For her, Mark is really a snobbish and sarcastic. Well, when they met for the first time, he called her “a red mop”.  It really stung her because he was making fun of her. Of course, she has short red hair but it does not look like a mop at all! What a cruel man!

 Every day, Mary is trying very hard to avoid talking to Mark. Then, one day the boss put them in the same group for an assignment. The boss said, “You two will be a great team. Mark is very adventurous and communicative while you, Mary, are so intelligent but so quiet. You two will be perfect partners! The theme of this season will be, “an American Date”. What an outspoken boss but well, a boss is always a boss. For her, it is foolish to put them together.  They will hardly talk and that will be bad for the assignment.

Well, it was the vice versa. Everything was going well. Mark was really a good partner. Very smart, funny and kind as well.  He also apologized and told her that he was joking about the red mop. He saw her being very quiet and was hoping that she would laugh at the remark but she looked angry instead. He seemed to be very sincere with his apology. So, Mary apologized to him too and said that it might have been unreasonable to make assumption too early.  Their assignment was successful. Everyone was praising and admiring their work. Well, as to Mary and Mark, they have become good friends ever since.

  There was a boy named John. He was very naughty and loved to disturb things around. He rarely listens to his parents. He thought that all advices were just wasting of time. People called him Naughty John because of his behaviours.

“I’m still a small kid. I should do whatever I want. Nobody can stop me!" He said to himself aloud. He liked to chase the animals too. Whenever he saw animals, he would take a stone and threw at them. He would laugh loudly whenever the animals sounded hurt. What a naughty boy!

One night, while he was sitting at the porch, he saw a big owl on the mango tree. He ran in to his house and took his slingshot. He wanted to slingshot at the owl. Suddenly, there was a big bird coming from his behind and caught him on the shoulders. John shouted for help but nobody heard him. The bird kept chanting, “Naughty John! Naughty John!” John was really terrified. He prayed loudly that he would be a good boy. Will always listen to his parents and be good to everyone...It was too late, the big bird took him to a lake and dropped him there...John shouted with all his heart when he heard his mum’s voice. “Wake up, John! Wake up! You are having a nightmare!”

John was on the floor, crying loudly...He hugged his mum and told her that he would be a good boy and won’t be naughty anymore. Afterwards, John has really become a good boy ever since..polite to everyone and good to the animals.Now, no more Naughty John but, Polite John.
