This is the story when I was studying in Sana'a , Yemen.I was staying in a tower house. There is a door going out to the street which is called Az Zumar.There was a boy who was always playing on the street and greeted me as i went out and in. One thing I realised, he was always on his bare foot.This is the story all about....
There was a kid, at his 6. Told me his name is Abdullah. Staying across the street of Az Zumar. Always there waiting. By the front door of my tower house.As azan heard calling for prayer, he knew I will come down from my 4th floor, to walk down to masjid. He will be waiting by the door. To join for a walk for solat.There it goes every time. He will be waiting, as muazin (muazin=person who calls for prayer) is calling. He will be waiting to join for a walk.BUT I saw his bare feet,every step every beat,walking without shoe.Every time and every day. Till one day I took him to the stall and get him a pair of which he wished to has, by the tag of 600 rial (RM12), equal to about 2.5USD. I thought it is the end.But tomorrow he was shoeless again. So i demand a reason. He told; the shoe was too nice and hardly suit on him. So he went to exchange with his buddy, for a toy of helicopter, which doing better for him.I said fine; lets get a cheaper one so that you cant exchange it with another toy.As the day goes by, it was time for me to leave. Abdullah was there in front of door. I told "al-youm soufa arjig ila biladi"(I'm going back to my country). He replied "ain biladuk?"(where's your country). I told him about Malaysia, and he asked me is it somewhere in Saudi Arabia? "La, biladi hiya aba'id min Saudia-ba'id jiddan" (It's further than Saudi, far beyond). He asked; is there any other places further than Saudi Arabia? I keep in silent as I didn't know what to say. He asked me; am I coming back anyway? "attamanni zalik" I replied (let's hope I would).I bet, he will stayed in blur imaging where on earth is Malaysia.I bet, he will still there waiting by the door the next day, wishing I would come out from the door.Location: Az-Zumar,Sana'a
