    I felt ashamed that I never heard of this author before. I felt double ashamed because I can't keep up with reading all the suggested stories in this group. I will try to read this story when time permits. Once again, thank you for introducing to us a story and author.

    i 've read this short story... living in a big city ..chasing materials..we can't feel charms of country life ..children find great pleasure to be in such environment...

    life is  quite different in countryside...behaviour, approaches, interaction,their sense towards life...but we just be a witness ..can't be a part ..on our wish ...

    destined to cling our stand points!!!!!

    I have read short stories of Chekhov in Bangla, so many years back. He is my favorite one. I have to check it out whether I read it or not.

    dear me ...bundle of thanks for telling me The Bet by chekhoc..i read it ....no doubt this is reality of world when a person comes to know..he leaves everything...for..it is something else ..surely to be searched for!!!!!
