When you wrap headphones around a media player it creates a tightness on the weak parts of the cord that are on the part just before the two sides of the headphone and the headphone jack depending on how you wind them. This can cause a headphone jack over time because the stress causes the wire inside to snap. Thats why the cord is wrapped in rubber. It keeps it from bending easily. This is why cheap headphones do not last. They do not have adequate cords.
