  • Dear friends! I'd like to tell you that I will be absent in the Club for a week. I have to do one pressing translation. Please, don't be offended if I don't answer at once. I will answer all your questions when I am done with my work. I always remember you and I love you all.
  • Dear Upul! I have already answered this question. So, the following is the copy.

As to speaking. Of course, to improve this skill you should have as much spoken practice as you can. But you should speak to those who can correct you. Best of all is to do it with native speakers or those who speak fluent English. When I teach my students I use the following steps:

    1. They answer my questions.
    2. They read English texts and retell them
    3. They learn the vocabulary for some special topic and then we try to speak about that.
    4. They read English fictions and retell them (first, adapted and then original ones)
    5. They write compositions.
    6. I ask them to do oral two-way translation.
    7. I propose them any free topic I choose and they have to express their minds in that connection.
    8. They translate different articles from newspapers and magazines in a written form.

Of course, whatever my students do, I check it out and correct them. And at the same time they study grammar.

As a result, most of my students can speak fluent English in a year if they were even beginners. The only one requirement is for them not to be lazy and to do everything I say.
  • Dear Gary! Thank you, too. Yesterday there was something strange here. That is why there are 3 replies. I think that the second one was the last ( there should be four paragraphs)
  • Thanks Tanya, Never mind i think i found what i was looking for.. best wishes for u...
  • Dear Amelia! Have you read my announcement attentively? I believe, I have made myself clear. My site is for Russian speakers only. That strange language is my native one: Russian. I am going to make it available for everyone but it can take me about half a year to translate everything in English. Only my grammar book contains about 600 pages. I am sorry. Now it is only for those who know Russian.

  • hello tanya, nice to meet you.
i´m happy because am in your group and i can practice english with you and with all.
  • Dear Astrid! Thank you for your warm words and your attitude. I'd like to say that it is not my Club, I wish it were, but its creator is Josef Essberger, a head of its administration, and I greatly appreciate what he has done and is still diong. I am just a regular memeber of this Club like you are. However, I love people, I love English and I do love teaching and helping people. I hope, you have found my information useful. As to corrections, there won't be many, but I will place them on the discussion "What do you want to know about English grammar?". The idea is that everyone can read them because people don't usually read the comment wall. I hope, you don't mind.
  • Dear Tania,
first of all thank you for your valuable advice.
I wish to tell you that I am very happy to belong to your club, because I can read a lot and I can compare myself with the other members of the group. In fact, I was trying a kind of club like this, full of many interesting things to learn. As you know I need to improve my english because of my job and I think this is the right way.
Besides, I find also very ineteresting the discussion opened by Irina concerning the different cultures; I think that it is very important knowing new cultures and towns.
At the end , I wish to kindly ask you to correct my mistakes so that I can understand how to write a good english.
Thank you very much for your help, for me very important.
    thank you
    Astrid

Practicing English

Everybody has their own methods to learn English. For the first time, I learn from songs. It is easier for me, cos it is a fun way. I learn vocabularies, grammar and idioms... and also pronounciation. Books gives me a lot of knowledge. The most difficult for me to learn is speaking cos we must have a partner to practice. We can't do it alone. I am a housewife with 3 children, and 2 of them are kids, really so hard to find partner to practice cos of my bussiness taking care of them. My husband…
