DIFFICULT WORDS AND EXPRESSIONS IN THE LISTENING

1. Accompanied: to go somewhere with another person.

2. At the wheel of: driving (a car, etc.).

3. Adolescence: teenage years.

4. Borne out: shown to be correct.

5. Combat: fight against (as in a war).

6. Comprehensive: complete; covers everything.

7. Handle: manage; cope with.

8. Incontrovertible: indisputable; certain; cannot be argued against.

9. Lethal weapon: a thing that can kill a person, such as a gun.

10. Potential cocktail of disaster: a combination of things that could cause something terrible to happen.

11. Restrict: stop something happening.

12. Strike cold terror in the heart: become extremely afraid thinking about something that could happen.

13. Youngster: informal term for a child, teenager, or young adult.
