DIFFICULT WORDS AND EXPRESSIONS IN THE LISTENING

2. Boost: increase something quickly; energize.

3. Caffeine dependence: addicted to the substance caffeine in coffee, energy drinks, etc.

4. Concoctions: a new and unusual mixture of things, especially in a drink or food.

5. Craze: fade; fashion; something that is very popular with a lot of people.

6. Flushing: going red in the face because of the blood rushing to the cheeks.

7. Ingredient: something that is combined with other things in a food, etc.

8. Lacing: adding something extra to normal food or drink (often secretly) - such as alcohol, drugs, or poison.

9. Lay to rest: prove something to be incorrect or wrong.

10. Plastered: found everywhere, especially advertising.

11. Reservoirs: extra or reserve quantities of something.

12. Scare stories: stories that are meant to make people afraid.

13. Skyrocketed: increased extremely quickly - often associated with prices or the popularity of something.

14. Ubiquitous: found everywhere; very common.

15. Underlying assumption: basic belief that affects other ideas or views.

16. Upwardly mobile: progressing successfully through society.

17. White spirits: alcoholic drinks that are clear, such as vodka or gin.
