Make diagrams and charts with new vocabulary is a great way to practice new words, later you can use them to make sentences, ask yourself questions and review words. To do that you need to start a vocabulary notebook, if you don't have it buy one. write every word you learn in your vocabulary notebook and try to keep it as long as you study English, you can also swap it with a friend and ask your friend to give a comment about your vocabulary notebook and ask a question about it. You do the same with your friend's vocabulary notebook.
So why don't you start your vocabulary notebook right now ?
Apart from learning about the stress pattern, you should be able to use the words in your real life to make them part of your life,it is not enough to memorize words and learn the meaning personalizing them is very important, so next time you learn a word try to relate it with your real life. For example if NEIGHBOR is a word you have learned recently try to personalize it,ask yourself
who is my neighbor?
Is he/she a good neighbor?
And questions of that type will help you internalize the word.
