Ramadan

Helping Others During RamadanRamadan is a special time of year -- a time when Muslims around the world take a step back from their daily routines and focus on community, charity, fasting, and prayer. Ibn Abbas described that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was the most generous of people, and even more so during the month of Ramadan. Here are some ideas of what you can do this month to help those around you.Learn More About IslamThe first step is to learn more about the faith of Islam. Especially during these difficult times, it is ever important to develop understanding and firm knowledge of what Islam is and isn't. There are books and videos for all levels -- introductions for those just learning about the faith, and in-depth studies for those who want to strengthen and deepen their understanding.Reach Out to Those Around YouIs there a family in your neighborhood that you haven't seen in a while? A student in a strange new city? A new Muslim who is fasting for the first time? An elderly couple who can't get to the mosque? Why not take a few minutes to make a phone call, drop in for a visit, or invite someone to iftar (dinner to break the daily fast). Even the smallest gesture of kindness can make a huge difference in someone's life.Help Those in NeedAll around the world, and even in your own backyard, there are people who are suffering from illness, hunger, or desperation. "Those who spend their wealth by night and day, in secret and in public, shall have their reward with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve" (Qur'an 2:274). "By no means shall you attain righteousness unless you give freely from that which you love. And whatever you give, Allah knows it well" (Qur'an 3:92).

  • Hi everybody

    i wanna add an event occurred in this month;

    in Ramadan of 40th yr of Hijrah we missed a man of Islam;the closest companion to our Prophet;the most courageous man;the God's Lion;the gate of knowledge according to our Prophet;the one who can't be described by my poor words....

    Al-Imam Ali(peace be upon him) was martyred on the 21st of Ramadan after he was struck with a poisoned sword on the 19th of Ramadan while he was in Sajda of his prayer in Kufah mosque...

    "And do not speak of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead; nay they are alive but you do not perceive. (Qur'an, 2:154)

  • Hi everybody

    Ramadan is the month called as God's month.this month is the only month whose name exists in the Holy Koran.

    in this month we learn how to control our instincts.in this month we learn about the difficulties which the poor bear.

    fasting is proved to be useful for our health.it is beneficial for weight management, to rest the digestive tract and for lowering lipids.
    you can search the Internet for the medical benefits of Ramadan.

    here is a verse derived from the Holy Koran about this month:

    In the Name of Allah the Beneficent the Merciful
    The month of Ramadan is one in which the Qur'an was sent down as guidance to mankind, with manifest proofs of guidance and the Criterion. So let those of you who witness it fast[ in ]it, and as for someone who is sick or on a journey, let it be a[ similar ]number of other days. Allah desires ease for you, and He does not desire hardship for you, and so that you may complete the number, and magnify Allah for guiding you, and that you may give thanks

    Chapter Al-Baghara/verse 185

    have a nice time:)

  • As a Musilms, i think we know what Ramadan means for muilms.It is a month for work and worship.Many people of musilms do good things during it just to these actions accepted by God
    .This has its privacy because all actions are for God.God says "all human being'action that he /she does for him/her ,but Fasting is mine and I reward"
