Hi, my dear friends!I read about Abstract Nouns on English Club.It says:Abstract Nouns are things that you cannot touch them.Example:Their lives were full of sadness.Sadness is an abstract noun in the above sentence. Now, here is my question:What role does "live" in the "their lives"?I looked at a few dictionary. They have said that "live" can be a verb, an adjective, and an adverb, not a noun.I am sure that "live" is not a verb or an adverb in "their lives".If, the live is an adjective, why has not it used a noun after itself? Thanks in advance and best wishes,Bijan

the word LIVES is a plural noun for LIFE. There is such a rule: if we add -s/es to a word that ends with -fe/f, F is replaced with V. For example: knife - knives; leaf - leaves.
