Ok, it's the last time I'm writing something in this discussion, but I was not able to ignore this. I was watching a video released on youtube on march 8th, it has the ten best songs with lyrics about women empowerment. Here are some things people wrote on the comments:
I really cannot judge on such a nonsense comments on You-tube ... I haven't been in America or west but I don't feel such things in Iran ...
There is a lot of respect towards women in my country ...
But unfortunately some of them cannot understand this respect ...
Here in Brazil the woman is supported when there is violence at home, but if she seeks legal aid. We have the Maria da Penha Law, that support psychological treatment, temporary housing for women with children or alone. And in that place where they are temporarily they can work to find another home where they can live away from the attackers husbands.
"Domestic violence is an evil that plagues women worldwide, from ancient times to today. Unfortunately such violence has always been, even if unconsciously, accepted in society. The attacks range from the psychological to the sexual and in most cases come from that which should protect the woman, her husband. When they find themselves without someone to support them and cornered within his own home, can not see a future for themselves. With that shame, fear and lack of perspective of a future, makes many women accept violence. Only that many can see "light at the end of the tunnel" and trying to fight this violence end up being further harassed by their peers. In this study we analyze the historical path of violence against women to the breakthrough in Brazil, which was the approval of the Maria da Penha Law. In addition to the psychological aspects involving the offender relationship / assaulted and how the family is affected by this violent behavior - http://jus.com.br/artigos/25829/lei-maria-da-penha-violencia-medo-e..."
Brazilian women are in a better position now, we know that in the past women had no rights. And with much struggle and confrontation women acquired their place in society, but their goals are still far from being realized.
Hello Mohammad. Sorry to intrude, but what she meant is that the men doesn't need to prove anything in court, if they are not happy in their relationships they can go to the court and ask for divorce, but women have to show the men are addicted or they are not able to support financially their families. So, she is right, it isn't equal for men and women.
And about the stoning, it's a horrible thing. Infidelity is terrible, but is this a reason to kill someone?? Does this kind of thing happen when men cheat on their wives???
I'm sorry about my ignorance, the few things I know about your culture I saw in a documentary and on the news. About the stoning, I didn't know it is a penalty for both men and women because when I saw the news about some cases, the victim was always a woman. In my country we have a law which was supposed to prevent and punish racism, but in my opinion it doesn't work, our society is racist. That's why maybe even having a law that was supposed to be equal for men and women, it doesn't work this way. I don't know. If we don't see on the news many cases of men stoning, probably the rate of this crime is low among the male population. The reason behind what we see could it be the fact men can have more than one wife?? (Sorry, I tried to ask a question, but didn't succeed) I'm just trying to identify the reason behind what we see. If you don't mind to share some information, I'd like to ask some things: How is it proved a person commit adultery?? Do you have to show pictures or things like that? How is the marriage in your country? Does the man choose the wife? Does the wife choose the husband? I think it is something the family must decide, am I right? I think infidelity is not something good, obviously, but for me stoning and killing someone (man or woman) is not the answer or the appropriate punishment. I think divorce is punishment enough for such crime. But I'm not here to force my beliefs upon anybody, I'm here to learn English and why not, learn a little bit about different cultures and even not agreeing with your point of view, it's not my goal try to change it or bother you, we live far away from each other and have different backgrounds.

Hi Zenilda!!
Unfortunately the victims still have to face judgment from people, who sometimes think what happened was their fault.

Stoning for what ...? Isn't Infidelity terrible too ...?
"he doesn't need any reason" what a big lie ...
If he doesn't need any reason so why he and his wife must go to the court first for divorce ...
Talking in such a way is absolutely pure cowardice ...

Hi Joseane ...
I have answered the first part of your words in previous response ...
I've said that there is no difference between men and women in Infidelity ...
Infidelity is Infidelity ...
I really cannot understand what has happened to a human who can accept a terrible act like Infidelity as a normal crime ...
So tell me ...
What is the penalty for infidelity?

I'm just trying to identify the reason behind what we see.
