Well the prevalence is attributed to the sedentary life style, lack of exercise , no brisk walking , high cholesterol diet etc.... "Prevention is better then cure", once developed hypertension will make u swallow the pill everyday otherwise it will open the door for many a demons to possess your body including.. Myocardial infaction , cerebral infaction, intracerebral heamorrhage , hypertensive retinopathy, aortic aneurysm, hypertensive nephropathy ( renal failure ) any a lot more...
Moral : Leave sedentary life style OR write down ur will ;-)

I am pharmacist and have been working in hospitals certain years . I hav witnessed alot of patients suffer from hypertension . However, to my point of view , if we care for prevention , we can reduce risk of it alot .
First , we should have a healthy regime with fresh food. Please say no , or very little with fast food . Take care of how much we spend our calories in a day and how much we resume . The equivalence should be equal .
And we should get away from oily foods , the oil will stay in our blood vessels and will not get out and it will block our vessel , consequently it will causes bad result with high blood pressue as mentioned above
And we should not be lazy , try to have exercise everyday , to get blood circulation in best running , help our body extract un-necessary elements , or poison out .
I am sure if you care for prevention , you can reduce risk at least 60 % , or if you have the sicness already . You will live peacefully with it for longer years .
