Hi yOtsuba, did you do well on your exams? We've been talking about motorcycles/bicycles or whatever we like. Do you like any preference on vehicles? How do you commute to your school?
I've Just Done My Examinations...,,^^,,
Luckily, U Still Remember Me, yoh.... ,,^^,,
And What R U Talking About???....About Motorcycle????....
This spring I've cycled about 900 Km already.. Ö
"Riga 12" is moped. Mopeds don't need driving license.. for adults.
Well if you were able to drive your dads 70cc motorcycle at that time. Then no doubt, that u can drive anything also now. ;)
PS. There actually exist four wheeled mopeds too. They look like real car but can go only 45 Km/h max and have 50cc cylinder. Currently it needs driver license, because it's not defined in our current traffic regulation, but from Jule we will have new traffic law and there it's defined as moped. Which means any adult or at least 14 years old who have license of moped can drive it in traffic.. Some car drivers are already scared of it..
Well unfortunately that moped is almost as expensive as real car.
That "Riga 12", I might be able to ride it. Of course I don't have a motorcycle license though :P
When I was ten years old, my dad had a 70cc motorcycle. One day, he took me to a school playground, and made me DRIVE it. At first, I was a bit scared. But, to my surprise, I was able to drive around in circles for like a half hour. Boys and girls who were playing in the playground gave a surprised look to me...... hahaha. It's a funny distant memory ^_^
By the way, when I heard Hardi said
"I enjoyed bicycling when I was 8 years old and I still enjoy it"
I remember something. So I looked back comment thread, and found it! Here's the comment that I found.

To say the truth. I have probably cycled about 9000 Km with my bike, but of course I round it upward.. Everyone does that.
So now, I wonder how many kilometers you've cycled so far?
150Km by 1 liter is good achievement.. I think.
I prefer bicycle. I enjoyed bicycling when I was 8 years old and I still enjoy it. Motorcycles and cars seems boring to drive. There's not much to do.
Driving tractor is more fun. There it's more than just driving. There's the skills of working with it. Adjusting it's equipments and etc.. Yet.. modern tractors probably are even more dull than driving car. There's all computer controlled stuff. You can make all adjustments for plow, or any equipment without leaving the seat.. probably.
In bicycle, you convert your own muscle power to speed. So it's more enjoyable. But as for motorcycle, or car .. I think being a passenger is more fun. If Kaoru could give me a ride on her dad's motorcycle. I might enjoy it even more than driving it by my self. lol
Riga 12 looks cool. It must be exciting for an 8 years old to drive anything with an engine. Glad you didn't fall.
If I own my motorcycle, I would choose a moped - probably Honda's super cub, which is super energy efficient and sturdy. It is used for delivering food and mails in Japan, because it can travel 150 km with 1 L of gasoline. ref
I've only ride a low-powered motorcycle (moped). But the first time I ride one I was only about 8 years old. It was my grandfather's old "Riga 12" that my oldest brother got as present.
I could only go straight lines with it. I couldn't turn, because it felt like it will fall, if I try to turn. So I just stopped the engine when got too far from home. Which didn't make my other brother too happy. Since I couldn't push it enough hard to start it, while he sat on it. And while I sat on saddle and he pushed, I just stopped the engine when wanted to stop it.. There was a decompression/airing valve on top of cylinder, that could be operated from handlebar.. I used that to stop.
The clutch and gears were too difficult for me. I think, that my fingers didn't reach, or it was too hard to press or smth.
It was like this. Except color. Ours was green.
Ref....
Hi Phan Ming Tam (or y0tsuba, right?). How is your life going? Please talk about anything you feel like^_^
Kaoru, your farther seems to like retro stuffs. Did he influence your taste? I like SR500. It has a simple design with a single cylinder engine, which generates comfortable exhaust note. Below is the same model as I had in Japan. I have a good memory of traveling Hokkaido with this.
I look forward to your picture!! ;)
I think renting a motorcycle is the best option. Not only because is it easy on the pocketbook, but also you can ride different models each your short trips. Isn't that great?
Long time ago, my father used to ride this SR 500
