  • Wow, you have no idea how I want to live in a place like that.
Me and my friends used to, but the "urbanizing" made it just memory now.
That's why I'm searching a whole new world through anime... (It's like adventures)
But don't worry, I'm not the type of spending all day doing that :)) I am having a big dream and having to strive for that dream in order to be able to see a new world :D
Anyway, anime did a good job showing me how I want the world to be...
  • Hi yoh. Such forests/places exist in Estonia too.. I think. But we don't have wakkun.. and I haven't had direct experience with such place.

Though there was nearby some very old stone graves to our countryside home. And my dad and grandfather did not like us to go to play there, but I think that was more like as for respect for ancestors, or smth.. Well I actually liked that forest. It didn't feel like a bad place.. I actually did not understand where exactly the graves where there. There was just a lot of granite stones scattered around in one area of forest and signs that there are stone graves and they are under protection, ....but yes that area I actually really did not like, it was darker and I never liked to play there.. I have heard that some of the stones of that place was used to build, or rebuild a church in nearby... don't know sure. there is many old stone graves in Estoina.. don't remember how old, but sure over 1000 years old.

There was also a big stone nearby, that is believed that it was sacrificing stone.. about 300 meters from our house. There's a legend, that says that Swedish king Gustav II Adolf hide gold under that stone .. I think it was Gustav II.. I'm bad of history and Sweden Have too many Gustavs.. Anyways hence the legend, there have many people dig and searched for it. When my Grandfather was young, then some students were doing archaeological digging there, My grandpa played a prank to them. he digged their hole deeper at night, and pressed the print of the bottom of a pot to the soil.. It became pretty big story, newspapers even wrote that someone saw how Swedish king bring the gold away, with a carriage that had 6 white horses.. or something.

The picture of the sacrifice stone, where Swedish king hide the cold. The sing says that this is a sacrifice stone from... (can't read the date out from photo, Something B.C.E I guess) and that it's under protection.

And there's the pic with forest, where the stone graves are http://my.englishclub.com/photo/a-landscape The pic is taken from our country side home yard... (the view to east). It's a very rural place. 1 km to south was my grandfathers house. half km to south west lived a old man who was a bit crazy.. back when I was kid there wasn't more habitants nearby.. Also we only spend weekends and holidays there. Weekdays we were in town.

Anyway I liked first half of Zettai Shonen much more, than second half. :) I started to re watch it too yesterday, but I have only watched 4 episodes of it for now... then I watched 3 episodes of Aria...
  • PS. yoh, did u check "Aria the Animation" and/or "Aria the Origination" out too?

It's likely pretty much inspired of real Venetia, but the water in Neo Venetia of that anime is impressively clean and it's every way wery nice.. I know nothing about the real Venetia though..

  • Hi yoh. I'm glad to hear, that you liked "Zettai Shonen".
I think it's good, because there is so many interesting details in it.. Things that have nothing to do with the actual story.. like there was a firm scene of ants.. then somewhere was a scene where a character rubs the bug bite on her foot.. etc. It all together creates the feeling like it's real..
It always amazes me, when I watch it. How could they add so many details, that have nothing to do with the real story? It's like they filmed actual people and sceneries and then turned it into anime...

But the story is... for younger children than me perhaps. :P But even when the story might be for for kids. It's definitely a anime that I can watch again and again and then again after a while. ;)
  • Space Battleship Yamato will turn into live action series..

  • Hi, Hardi!
Thank for yor comment! It's interesting for me.:-)))
Abraham Lincoln was the son of a poor farmer, like you. He went to school "by littles" - a little now and a little then, not more than a year in all. But Abraham worked hard and later became a lawyer. I think you'll be a scientist and you'll write the book "The secrets of traveling in the speed of light". Or manga - :-))).
Yoh is right - "there is no license to be a scientist. If you think you are, you are the one".
  • Hi Rosenmaiden.
I prefer anime in Japanese with english subs.. also the ones dubbed to English are acceptable.. I Have also watched some animes dubbed to Germans.. from Cable TV.. I Don't appreciate ones dubbed to Estonian.. Also dubbed to Russians, I don't appreciate.. I don't understand Russian too well anyways.. But I like listening Japanese language.. even though I only little can understand it.

"Elfen Lied" I have seen. I don't know.. but I believe, that it didn't hurt me.. But I have forgot most of the story.. or if it made me cry or sad.. It was long time ago, but I remember.. that at beginning I thought of stopping of watching it.. it looked like a bad anime. With a lot of blood in first episodes and it looked exactly like a porn of teens, with that nudity.. The boy was acting so naive, or stupidly innocent, or smth.. I was thinking "How cheap they try to catch more teenage boys to watch with some blood and nude scenes in first episode!"
Though, later it all made sense. They likely acted so naively, or stupid, because of the psych trauma from their bast.. It was their escape..

One anime that made me very sad was actually "Noir" I was so sad about "Chloe". :)

There's a lot of sad Anime. Clannad was sad, Kanon had some sad elements.. I have only watched the never version of Kanon...

What else, not so sad, I have appreciated.. I liked "Zettai Shonen" very much. Have watched it many times. There I got know a bit of Japanese mythology.. It's very fairy-tale like story.. But it's good anime.. I don't know what it is, or how explain.. it's the feeling, or atmosphere, of the anime.. Some few Japanese movies that I have seen are same way..

I like also Aria sequences. It's also "fairy tale" like scifi anime, suitable also for kids, I think..
More adult like thing, that I liked was "Touka Gettan" It have not so nice love story at all.. Quite frightening, or impure perhaps.. But it's in black comedy like form, with a lot of action and mixed with another story.. something schizophrenic maybe.. I think it's much better than Elfen Lied.. but my true favorites are always comedies and also romance stories

Of course Most of Studio Ghibli works are my favorites also..
  • Hi, Yoh! Hi, Hardi! Hi, everybody!
I'm interested in reading your comments! :-)))

Hardi, what language do you watch anime in usually? In Japanese with subtitles? Or in your native language? Or in Russian language? You were born in the USSR, weren't you? Like me. We are former fellow citizens, aren't we?

As for anime hurting peoples psyche, I meant anime like "Elfen Lied". The fans of this anime cry about Liusie, but nobody thinks of fair trial. Only God can judge.
  • Thanks Hardi for the info on summer anime.. i'm glad they will be new anime release.. most of the anime that i watched near ending..

last night watched ookiku.. its sad.. cry a little bit due to the team lost to sayama.. T_T their first lost..

yeah.. nurarihyon no mago.. im eager to watch it..
  • ええと(errrr) Well, yeah I supose, you're right, I too think they were sometime irritating.. In "B Gata H Kei" ;)

"Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou" sadly ended too.. I liked it much more.. But there will be new animes for summer.

Anime chart of summer 2010 animes can see at http://chartfag.wordpress.com/ Some seems like, they will be interesting. :)

Shiritori

Would you like to play the Japanese word game, shiritori? Everyone can participate! The game goes so. First I give a Japanese word with English translation. And the next person will give a new Japanese word with English translation , that start with the previous word's last "kana". Like this: I say word "neko" -> cat then, next person have to say a word that start with ko example koneko -> kitten If u are not familiar with kana, then the list of Japanese syllables (kana) can be found from…
