  • You probably need to use the past tense for 1 and 2. I "suggested" ,I "asked". For #3 She "insists".
  • Let us look at Nida's examples:

    1. If she were my sister, I would slap her on such a bad behavior.
    To correct a small point , "on such bad behavior" should be "for such bad behavior."

    2. Your mother says that you be free on dinner time.
    "Your mother says you should be free at dinner time."

    3. Teacher orders that students be on time for examination.
    "The teacher orders that students be on time for their examination."

    4. If I were rich, I would go to the best university in the world.
    PERFECT !!

    5. She behaves as if she were a princess.
    PERFECT !!

    6. If I were in your place, I would love to go on holiday [?].

    7. The teacher insists that pupils work hard to pass the exam.

    8. MyEC administration demands that members post their original writings instead of pirated ones. {MyEC administration is all right, but I think "The MyEC administration" might be better.}

    9. If you were in the competition, you would be the winner. {There is a confusion in tense here: If you were in the competition implies that it is over, and you were not in it. So, you should follow that with "you would have won it."}
    [If you mean, "If you were in the competition that is about to happen", then "you would be the winner" is correct.]

    10. Doctors recommend frequent hand washing so that we stay healthy.
    PERFECT !!

    • Great examples and links! Thank you!

      Check the first verb in the Rabab example. I suspect it's just a typo. You seem to have the hang of the subjunctive.
    • Thanks for the correction.
