For years, to the red wine, my heart was boundThe Tavern became alive with my prayer and my sound.See the Old Magi's goodness, with us, the drunks,Saw whatever we did, in everyone beauty had found.Wash away all our knowledge with red wine,Firmaments, themselves, the knowing minds hound.Seek that from idols, O knowing heart,Said the one whose insights, his knowledge crowned. My heart, like a compass, goes round and round,I'm lost in that circle, with foot firmly on the ground.Minstrel did what he did from pain of Love,Lashes of wise-of-the-world in their bloody tears have drowned. With joy my heart bloomed, like that flower by the streamUnder the shade of that tall spruce, myself, I found. My colorful wise Master, in my dealings with the black robes,My meanness checked and bound, else my stories would astound.Hafiz's cloudy heart in this trade was not spent,This merchant saw and heard every hidden sight and sound.page at here

Hello How is Hafiz doing these days? Do you go to his tomb in Shiraz and pray for us, EC members?
You know the story of Hafiz and his slippers?
Did Mr Arianpour translated his poems into English?
I would like to see the original Persian version of the poem above if you could add it as well.
Thanks

As the poem has its own language -I mean difficult and rarely used words, please give the best suitable meanings to those words which seem difficult to you so that everyone better gets the meanings...
Do you know anything about talking in disguise of symbols?
Or sarcastic phrases and sentences ?
For sure ,you know ...Hafiz is a master in using some special signs when he talks ...This way the content seems more appealing, also more challenging to the mind so that the meaning dips deeply in your memory when you get to know the truth behind those symbols...
If you like ,please talk about symbols in this poem ,but i think it is better not to talk about them...every individual can feel free to interpret them as he/she wishes ...But i think no one can fully get Hafiz's original meaning ...maybe i am wrong ...
