    • Well Hetty, I believe that I am not moody anymore (as I was when I was younger), but things happen unforeseen and one has to deal with it. Like today .. But I must admit I knew it was coming (I expected it) as I know boys well by now! So, sorry that it had a negative influence on you and the rest of the class. I however believe that it will just get better as we advance on this path together. So, be of good cheer (be encouraged)!

    • Yes, I agree Ann, happiness can also be in the smaller things of life. Even just a friendly greeting from the guard at the entrance gate one morning can bring happiness. It happened to me today as the two friendly guards were on duty today at Nan men and their friendliness made my day starting well!

    • I wonder how you figured that out, Cao Mengtao, that I am trying to understand the students?! I can't remember that I said that; but your assumption is quite correct. I am just surprised that you realized that. I may be a little strict at times, especially in the beginning of a semester, but it is because I believe the discipline is necessary. It does not mean that I do not care for the students. Even today ... the fact that I got unhappy with the two boys doesn't mean that I don't like them. I believe that in the end it will be to their advantage to be strict with them now. The only pity is that it doesn't have a pleasant effect on the rest of the class. But it'll get better, believe me!

    • Well Pauline, I don't know whether the class started on such a happy note today .. but at least it ended on a better note! I liked your one object that was on your finger .. quite extraordinary!

    • Thank you for a good comment, Ada (though I personally wouldn't quote what politicians said as the always say things with an agenda - meaning they say things to suit peoples' ears; the things people want to hear, and what they want the people to hear!). And you also remembered the quote from George Sand about happiness and love that I wrote on the board! I think that is very true.

  • Hello, teacher.Thank you for your extraordinary arrangement  for the next class. When i know about the idea about bringing 3 objects to class and share them with my friends.I feel so happy because i do have some meaningful things for myself and share with others. They connected my childhood with today or arise my memories when my good friends and me played happily ever  etc.As for happiness, everyone has his own feelings i think.it is everywhere around we each.if we put great enthusiasm into our life.Everything could be regarded as happiness.

    • I'm glad you brought some special objects along to share with us, Kelly. And I'm glad I've moved you and Ada to a new group as I could see how the boys have enjoyed the refreshing company! And of course, they benefited by you and Ada's more advanced language skills ..!

    • Yes Zhou Ying, I also enjoy listening to my students' description of their objects and why they regard it as special. I use this lesson methodology frequently as I enjoy it myself every time. The purpose is always to generate conversation and I hope students would enjoy it too. And I agree with you; much of our happiness comes from our attitude towards life. People who are positive toward life are always happier.

    • Are you really happy enough, Tan Jingping?! You didn't look happy in the class today ..! But I think I know what the problem was ... or rather, who the problem was ... You are scared of the teacher, right?! Sorry for doing that to you. It won't be always like that, you'll see. As soon as the boundaries are being established (and I think we have reached that point now), things will calm down and you will start enjoying the classes (without too much fear!).

  • hello, teacher .In my life, there are some objects are important for me.But soory teacher ,i like put them in my secret box and leave them at my home.I like share my happyness with my best friend, and i feel happy now ,Everyone has differnt opinions about the definition of happy,so the next lesson will be intersting.
