The grammar focus of this lesson will be on Second Conditional sentences (If I were ... I would ...) and we'll discuss gender issues and what it would be like to be a boy. Unfortunately the MP3 music file is too big (only 7MB allowed here) and we can only listen to the song in class.

Short discussion on a few more environmental issues. We have already discussed the banning of plastic bags. But would that be sufficient to protect our environment? What about reducing the use of some items, or recycling some used items, or reusing some used items?! This discussion includes a short rap song and it is included here.

I agree Wen Xin, us men should be women for just one day so that they (we) can see what they (we) do to women through their (our) selfishness and ego's and disrespect they (we) often show females, and feel the hurt they (we) can cause them. We men are far too insensitive about a woman's needs.
Well, I guess they surely should stop the custom whether romantic or not (it is very romantic, I think!), because if they don't, that bridge is surely going to collapse one day under that weight! They should accept Annabel's (Wang Yepu) suggestion to start planting 'love trees'!
I can see you have a good understanding of those environmental issues, the 3R's! You would be a good candidate for a future Minister of the Environment! ;-)
Li Fengxian, the lesson about the environment is only one part of today's class. What about the other part of the lesson (about relationships between boys and girls)? Or didn't you know that we would have that lesson too? Maybe you should also read through the attachments before you comment ...
Su Xu, how can this phenomenon do harm to the environment?! I can understand that it may damage the bridge as over the years the bridge is getting heavier from the weight of all the padlocks. Of course this is not a recipe for success in marriage or a guarantee for a happy relationship with your gf or bf; it's just something romantic that some couples do! Do they not do romantic things like this in China? If you say no, then I am glad I didn't grow up here as this would then be one of the most unromantic and boring countries I've heard of! How do girls then really enjoy their relationships if their bf's don't even know what it is to be romantic?!
I agree it must be great to be a girl, even if you're not a strong girl ...! There are many nice things boys do what girls aren't interested in (like you've mentioned), but likewise girls have great things they do in which men aren't interested in. I am glad I'm a boy, not because I don't appreciate and respect girls, but because of the discrimination against females by the men. If I were a girl, I think I would have been a men-hater!
Rock, have you read through the attachments before commenting? You know you didn't, and I can clearly see that. If students are not reading the lesson material any longer, maybe we should stop this exercise as I am just wasting the students' time, don't you think?
Yin Linlin, thank you for the comment, but have you really read through the attachments before commenting here? I am not convinced. I know you said you wouldn't attend class; so, maybe you think it wasn't necessary. I disagree. Yes, it is important to protect our environment, but it is not only for ourselves; it's for our countries and the future generations. I know the rich and many politicians don't care about that, but we can't all live like that as we would then shorten the future of our planet.
Yes, I agree it is the man's responsibility to protect and to feed, Wei Zhipeng. But that also includes loving the family (especially the wife, and not only the child) and showing respect to them. My question is, do all men do that today? Many think when they provide and feed, they have no further responsibility toward their wives, but the wives must be ready when they need them ... I think us men are in serious need of changing attitudes about women, don't you think so? Or am I making a mistake?
