[Note: With almost 10,000 comments here we have decided to start a NEW thread for 2012. Please join us at Be a Newscaster 2012!]
Every Tuesday English Club publishes a weekly news report. There is a self study exercise to go with the story.
You can practise your speaking by recording your voice as you read the transcript. Upload your report in the comments below by using a program like Audioboo, or by recording it on your computer and using the paperclip above to upload the MP3 file. You can share your recording each week.
You can also record yourself answering the discussion question. Have fun!

Hello Tara and the anchormens,
if you drop me your notes related to my pronunciation, I will be grateful.
If we make any evaluation in reducing cigarette, we can easily see decreasing in smokers after smoking ban. So, this table shows that every project will impact smoking addictions.
I will be waiting for your reflects,
regards,
Nice work, Selma! Can you try embedding the audioboo files instead of just linking? It's easier for listeners and easier to leave comments and take notes as we listen. Thanks!
Double check your pronunciation of these words. Sometimes you pronounce these words correctly, and other times these words seem a bit off. :
SMOking (not "smucking)"
illEgal (click to listen)
My dear Tara,
Sorry for the links that took all your times :((
I couldn't predict this situation and promise to use its journalist format, regular type.
To be honest, I love studying english, in that frame;
"Reasonably, Properly, Fully, Solely, Duly, Principally, Exclusively, Mutually, Wholly, Strictly."
Tara, these words were used among us when I was working, with department of contracts, to make agreement with companies. Anyway, it's already essantial to my life philosophy that conveys me to my goal.
In this context ; I can't stand being apart from my EC friends, my own study&amusing groups and especially Be a newscaster. Everytime, every role has brought me their own responsilities additively that's why also making practice is not having fun, it takes me to a serious mission that's good for me.
to sum up; during the days, stayed in a separete, I feel myself unhappy with the quality of my dedication. Please I don't want you think that I have neglected you and my lessons, I'm trying to get my life back on track. Sometimes I'm being really in a short time under the irregular circumtances. When it comes to english, I am still faltering in using an ordinary word, so, unfourtunately that's a good reason for not picking up my qualification enough. Thanks to all motivation, support and beside me I'll try to my best to be good as usual.
note; please forgive my mistakes, feel free to correct my writing, you are more than welcome,
God Bless you.
-Selma-
Selma,
You are extremely dedicated! I'm so proud of you for working so hard at your English. One thing you can do is try to simplify your writing. Sometimes I think you are translating from your native language. I get the impression that you have a very large vocabulary in your own language as well!
Let's work on these two lines. Can you try to rewrite these thoughts in a simple way?:

Hi Tara,
Thank you so much for your promptly respond. I need to be natural as you've mentioned.
I'll try to rewrite;
I am a very responsible person, in all my life I've done everything -including conversation in EC- seriously, I have to admit that this situation forces me.
I am being unhappy if I can't be online in Ec, because to be dedicated and organized learner is important to me.
Tara, living in non-native country is a really big barrier to learn foreing language in terms of being natural,
Thank you Tara for this extra challenging, you're very kind teacher. I hope that I came close to your expectation from me.
with my best,
Hi everyone! Can you believe it's December already?
Here is this week's news report: Thousands Evacuated in Germany Due to WWII bombs. I look forward to your recordings. Don't forget to invite a friend to our group.
Hello, this is my recordig...
Excellent! I really enjoyed your response to the discussion question! You could send it to the White House. :)
Check your pronunciation of ally. The stress is on the first syllable: Ally
LOL Tara, it's not that I write down stuff at random of course but you know... Mainly it's for practicing, isn't it? :-) Thank you for the pronunciation advice. Take care.
