[Note: With almost 10,000 comments here we have decided to start a NEW thread for 2012. Please join us at Be a Newscaster 2012!]
Every Tuesday English Club publishes a weekly news report. There is a self study exercise to go with the story.
You can practise your speaking by recording your voice as you read the transcript. Upload your report in the comments below by using a program like Audioboo, or by recording it on your computer and using the paperclip above to upload the MP3 file. You can share your recording each week.
You can also record yourself answering the discussion question. Have fun!

Hi Tara,
Thank you so much for your promptly respond. I need to be natural as you've mentioned.
I'll try to rewrite;
I am a very responsible person, in all my life I've done everything -including conversation in EC- seriously, I have to admit that this situation forces me.
I am being unhappy if I can't be online in Ec, because to be dedicated and organized learner is important to me.
Tara, living in non-native country is a really big barrier to learn foreing language in terms of being natural,
Thank you Tara for this extra challenging, you're very kind teacher. I hope that I came close to your expectation from me.
with my best,
Hi everyone! Can you believe it's December already?
Here is this week's news report: Thousands Evacuated in Germany Due to WWII bombs. I look forward to your recordings. Don't forget to invite a friend to our group.
Hello, this is my recordig...
Excellent! I really enjoyed your response to the discussion question! You could send it to the White House. :)
Check your pronunciation of ally. The stress is on the first syllable: Ally
LOL Tara, it's not that I write down stuff at random of course but you know... Mainly it's for practicing, isn't it? :-) Thank you for the pronunciation advice. Take care.
Hi Nsottin,
I like the way you answer the discussion question..:)
I hope I learn too how to say my opinion clearly in just short words like what you did.
You used...therefore, although, etc in stating your opinion. I think these are my missing link.
Thanks for sharing!
@Mayumi This page may be useful for you:
Transitional Words and Phrases
Thanks dear Tara,
I liked "Transitional words link" as well as the others. Anyhow every issue presented by you is more impressive to us more than a book. We are following your directions.
God Bless You,
-Selma-
Thanks Ms. T. It sure helps me a lot..:)
Hi mayumi, thank you for listening to my recordings. I have a couple of secrets to tell you now :D. I try and answer to the comprehension questions speaking "out of the cuffs" but as far as the discussion question is concerned, well what you hear there is me actually reading my answer. Beyond that I found very useful using an audio file editor and record audio tracks separately (the news recording, the comprehension questions, ...) then I manage to put them all together in a single audio file just before posting the link ;-) Bye bye.
