Be a Newscaster (2011)

[Note: With almost 10,000 comments here we have decided to start a NEW thread for 2012.  Please join us at Be a Newscaster 2012!]

Every Tuesday English Club publishes a weekly news report. There is a self study exercise to go with the story.

You can practise your speaking by recording your voice as you read the transcript. Upload your report in the comments below by using a program like Audioboo, or by recording it on your computer and using the paperclip above to upload the MP3 file. You can share your recording each week.

You can also record yourself answering the discussion question. Have fun!

  • Hello

    • Wow! Excellent recording. Your response to the discussion question is so interesting! I agree with you 100%. Thanks for recording the questions. I think it's very helpful for the learners to hear the correct tone through your voice.
    • Hello nsottin, I am not a teacher, so not qualified to tell you anything, but to me your recording is very good and I agree  with your answer to the discussion question. Those things happen everywhere, even in my city in Belgium.
    • Thank you Forget-me-Not. I'm looking forward to hearing your recording. Take care

  • I finally could solve the problem and uploaded  my record to Audiboo. So, here my record for this week news. Comments and suggestions are appreciated:

    • Excellent! I'm glad Manuela helped you figure out how to embed your recording. It's fun, isn't it?
    • Congrats on getting Audioboo to work! The sound quality is great. The traffic in the background always cracks me up. You must live/work on a busy road.

I'm going to remind you again to open your mouth a bit more when you speak. Also, you might want to copy and paste the text and put the stressed words in bold. This will help you add emphasis in the right places.

    • Thank for your suggestion, Tara.

I compressed the MP3 file and uploaded it to Audiboo, Tara. Sorry about the background, I live near bus terminal. How can I learn about word or sentence stress? I tried to read articles about it, but I'm still confuse, Tara.

    • You're welcome dear Jenny. It's great you joined this group.
    • Hello Ranu,

That's good, you didn't read  to fast so it's was easier for me to understand you. Nice recording.
