[Note: With almost 10,000 comments here we have decided to start a NEW thread for 2012. Please join us at Be a Newscaster 2012!]
Every Tuesday English Club publishes a weekly news report. There is a self study exercise to go with the story.
You can practise your speaking by recording your voice as you read the transcript. Upload your report in the comments below by using a program like Audioboo, or by recording it on your computer and using the paperclip above to upload the MP3 file. You can share your recording each week.
You can also record yourself answering the discussion question. Have fun!

Hello my friends,
Here are my recordings about Beyonce. Please bear with the recordings because of late posts.
Hi Robert,
Your skill and confidence is good enough.
If you use the mic a little bit closely, I can hear your voice better,
Hello Robert,
My god, you read so fast that i had troubles to follow you and sometimes to understand you. I am not the right one to judge your pronunciation and, to me, it seems pretty good but, please, next time, read slower so i can understand you better.
Thanks for joining us Robert! Great recordings. I can tell that you are working very hard on your intonation. There are just a few places where your voice goes up instead of down.:
Your intonation is perfect when you say the song name, "Love on Top". Then when you say "dropped her microphone" it is off a bit. Listen to the original again, and see how my voice sounds at that part. The word "microphone" is not the end of a sentence. The emphasis should be on dropped, unbuttoned, and began (rubbing).
Also, listen to the place where you say "maternity pants". The emphasis belongs on the second syllable: maTERnity pants. Your voice should go down when you say "pants".
Of course, I'm being picky! I like to challenge you because I know you are an advanced learner.
Hello, I'm back with reports but I'll catch up very soon, here is my tribute to Beyonce :-)
Fantastic! Just one note for everyone in the group:
In American English, the letter Z is pronounced ZEE. In British and Canadian English, the letter is pronounced ZED.
Jay-Z is American, so his name is pronounced Jay-ZEE.
Cheers,
T
thank you so much for your clarification Tara.
Here is this week's news report: Bolivia Holds 'Day of the Pedestrian'.
Here's a tip:
The word "pedestrian" has 4 syllables. The main stress is here: pe-DES-tri-an.
