[Note: With almost 10,000 comments here we have decided to start a NEW thread for 2012. Please join us at Be a Newscaster 2012!]
Every Tuesday English Club publishes a weekly news report. There is a self study exercise to go with the story.
You can practise your speaking by recording your voice as you read the transcript. Upload your report in the comments below by using a program like Audioboo, or by recording it on your computer and using the paperclip above to upload the MP3 file. You can share your recording each week.
You can also record yourself answering the discussion question. Have fun!

Excellent recording.
Here is something everyone can work on. When you have a clause that provides extra information (set off between commas), you need to take a little pause before and after you say it. The tone is important because this lets listeners know that it is extra information about the person. Listen to the example again from the news (at 40 seconds).
"Margaret Atwood, whose book The Blind Assassin was one of the 25 given away, said that circulating books in this way would create new readers."
Also check the pronunciation of "ORganizers". Many English learners put the main stress on third syllable (I) instead of the first. This is a common error I've noticed.
