Why english speakers use this?

I heard some sentences with this form from English speakers: "what I do know is that..." or " We do share the same..." The question is: What is the applicant of do in these sentences? Why they use it before main verb? I'll wait for your answers friends...

Similarly, for past tense, we use "did" for example, we did go to the party. I learnt it a long ago, but rarely used it in our sentences. Your discussion is a good reminder.

  My dear it means that "I really (or definitely) like football"
  
  Some examples: 'Please do sit down" (It is a request to BE SEATED).
  
  'I did reply him." (deninitely replied).
