This week, we're celebrating Earth day. It would be great if we respect our planet by helping and finding solution to prevent the destruction of our natural resources. Planting trees, lessen carbon emissions, using solar energy and cleaning our rivers are some things that we could do to maintain the beauty of our planet.
I usually do the proper segregation of the garbage in my house. That way I can easily keep and sell old newspapers, plastic containers and bottles in a junk shop.
Everybody can make a difference even in just simple actions...
How about you?

Hi Robbie,
We just had a discussion in my office about reusing paper coffee cups. Someone stole my ceramic cup on Wednesday (or broke it and hid the evidence). I had to have my coffee so I took the only other available cup which was one of the one-use paper cups. I am still using it while I keep looking for my favorite cup. I see no harm in reusing things and admire people who do. So many people throw everything away and insist on buying things with extra packaging which is bad for the environment.
My answer to them is we should not use disposable items when something that lasts for years is available. Thanks for your blog. I agree with your recycling and reducing waste 100%.
Hi Sir Bob!
Sorry to hear that your favourite cup is missing. I'm glad that you're taking a part to help our environment in your own ways. I hope more people will emulate your kindness for nature. I think it's OK to reuse paper cups compared to plastic cups which could harm our bodies because of the chemicals used in making them. I heard it in a news!
By the way, I'm truly glad that you shared your views about this topic. Thank you very much for your time, Teacher!
Have a fantastic new week!
Take care,
R☻bbie
Thanks for your comment, Camilla!
Hi Roobie!
It's very nice topic.
If evryone of us do what you are doing you and Nafis and tara we can feel the deference!
Our planet is very dirty it's take time and effort and money to clean ( i dont know if we can)but if we do this simple actions that diminished the risk .
Have a nice time
Thanks for being thoughtful, Liedy! I agree with you, if all people work hand in hand to preserve nature, we can attain clean, safe and beautiful environment.
: )
Thank you for your comment, Yen! : )
Thank you for that information! You're making a big step in protecting our planet because you are a teacher, thus giving you opportunity to disseminate ideas to your students. Good job, Deepa! : )
Dear All!
How I help to my Environment!
My life is very simple, and I often use the public transportation in travelling. I always try to avoid using polythene bags for shopping. And further, I love cultivating vegetables with organic manure because it is important of reducing artificial fertilizer usage to some extent. I feel that there is a ‘’ polythene mafia’’ in many cities in my country. People use polythene, polythene-based containers and plastic bottles and so forth for routine activities to the highest degree. These items have become compulsory in the modern life. It is agreed that the people are busy all the time at present due to the ‘’rat race’’ in the society, but it is needed to think about our environment in decision-making. It seems that the majority of people in the modern world go behind the ‘’wants’’, not ‘’needs’’, and in this context, most of them prefer using ‘’ instant items’’ for the convenience. The current thinking pool is mainly based on ‘’ enjoy today and don’t worry about tomorrow’’ concept, and with these attitudes, it is hard to find people thinking about the environment and the nature. The carbon footprint is basically gravitated around the emission of green house gases such as CO2, CO, CH4, NH3 and SO2. I think when we use less fossil fuels, the size of the carbon footprint can be reduced to a greater extent. For example, if we use “push bikes’’ for short journeys, or if preferred ‘’walking’’ for short distance, I think that it is a good change in this regard.
Before winding down, I would like to rewrite a statement made by “Great Red Indian Chief Seattle’’ in 1854.
‘’The rivers are our brothers, they quench our thirst. The rivers carry our canoes, and feed our children. If we sell you our land, you must remember, and teach your children, that the rivers are our brothers and yours, and you must henceforth give the rivers the kindness you would give any brother’’
Good Luck!
Bimal
Hi Bimal!
What a great comment you have here. I didn't expect it. My country is now implementing a law to lessen the use of plastic bags. Some manufacturers are producing biodegradable plastic, though. I bring my own shopping bag whenever I go to the grocery. That way, I can help even just a little.
Thank you for the detailed explanation. I really appreciate it! So as the statement you included in your response. If a river is gone one day, how are we suppose to live?
Have an inspiring weekend!
Best wishes,
Robbie
By liking such discussions and posts, I am sort of going for the Nature.
By posting such posts and discussions, I am again a supporter of the Home.
By reading and talking/sharing with friends about the books sort of written in support of nature and to warn us about what we are doing against our planet and environment.
I think we should try to figure out the real exact need of ours. This way, we never consume more than really needed; we never destruct the land we are living on. To know the REAL needs is really important, in my idea.
All actions mentioned by you, dear Robbie, and by the other friends here are really great and admirable. I just wanted to add that if we try to find the root of the problem, that would cause more major change in the wrong style of our lives.
The major step is knowing and figuring out [and letting the whole world around us know and figure out] the real exact cause of the current bad situation.
The other steps are the ones you all mentioned, and of course, they are the implementations of knowing the problem. In this field, to name my actions, which I know that are not always, perfect and enough, I can say that I try to segregate the garbage as you also mentioned. I try not to include the plastic/paper stuff in the kitchen bucket, but in a separate space. I try to keep the unnecessary lights off. Sometimes, whenever possible, I do it at university, too. I try not to buy unnecessary things; for example, I buy fewer plastic dishes or even other kinds. It is not just plastic that is harmful to earth, you know. We should also think of the minerals used to create all those dishes out there. We should try to efficiently and for longer period of time use our belongings, let it be a pair of shoes or a TV!
You know what we need? We need much more innovations in the field of less-consumption and more-efficient-consumption. Recently, I heard someone invented a way to recharge the cell phone battery using the electricity generated while walking. He has used simple materials to plant inside the base of a shoe to save energy of walking in the form of electricity. We need such nature-friendly inventions.
Anyway, sorry that I am so much talkative! Oh! Your head!!!
Thanks for the very useful topic.
Have a terrific time
:)
