I think that Becoming an adult in the legal sense of the word and becoming an adult in the true sense are two different things. By law, in some places, a sixteen-year-old is an adult. Is a sixteen-year-old mature enough to make good decisions regarding buying a car, a house, and standing on their own two feet without their parents? Probably not. I think that an adult has to reach a certain level of maturity. I know people who are over the age of thirty who just never managed to grow up. I would never turn to them for help or advice because they can’t even manage their own lives. Sometimes, adult is not about the number age but about the mental level of maturity.

  • Finding a job, living by yourself and paying your own bills. And cooking your own meals, too! and healthy meals. Also, going to the doctor and make the appointment yourself and not your mom, lol.

I also consider that having principles and ethics is an improtant factor to determine the dregree of maturity of a person. Nowadays there are SO many people that have the same moral than a 4-year-old brat.

  • Is becoming an adult positive at all? :c

  • Omg, why ???? "I would never turn to them for help or advice because they can’t even manage their own lives."

So, you blame those people because of that????

  • 100% true!!!

  • To pay taxes, to go to jail... Uhm, I can't think of a 'positive' one right now :/

  • It's true Shanaz ! Nice topic.

  • Experiences for example: getting a job, driving a car, finishing high school, turning a certain age, moving into your own home, getting married, finishing college, making your own big decisions, paying all your own expenses, travelling without your parents, having children or other...
