I can still remember my kindergarten pledge at the graduation ceremony rites. We have to declare our ambition at that early stage of our elementary school life. We practiced the paragraph again and again and I would like to share my childhood dreams, I dreamed of becoming a doctor, not because it’s a noble profession but because I believe it is cool to become one.
When I entered the secondary level, I dreamed of becoming a scientist, geologist to be specific not because it’s cool and profitable but because I think I have fallen in love to geosciences.
When I entered the tertiary level, I choose lesser projects course which is political science. It’s part of social science though and I think I’m still on my track. I took it not because I have fallen in love with it but because it will not be costly for me to take it.
When I entered my post graduate course, I added some unit to become a teacher not because I presume that I could save some pennies from projects. We know how teachers invest in everything they do without asking anything in return. I finished it not because of that, but because it is noble and has a good fall back when I see myself retiring.
But, what I have become right now? An Overseas Filipino worker (OFW), back home they are calling us “new bred heroes” because of our remittances that help the economy to gain a stable standing in competition for dollars.
Whew! To be honest, I should have been a soldier, why not? It applies the same effect.
So, what about you guys? What do you like to become when you grow up that you thought when you were young?

I think I've not been so ambitious to get a great job in my childhood but it's enough for me that God allows me to be happy and satisfied with what I do.
At your service captain Risty!
