A CLERK THER WAS OF OXENFORD ALSO,

THAT UNTO LOGYK HADDE LONGE YGO

AS LEENA WAS HIS HORS AS IS A RAKE,AND HE NAS NAT RIGHT FAT,

I UNDERTAKE,

BUT LOOKED HOLWE,AND THERTO SOBRELY

NOUGHT O WORD SPAK HE MOORE THAN WAS NEEDE,

AND THAT WAS SEYD IN FORME AND

REVERENCE,AND SHORT AND GUYK AND FUL OF HY SENCENSE,;

SOWNYNGE IN MORAL VERTU WAS HIS SPECHE....

  • How about this one?  (Those lines are passages from the poem 'The clerk of Oxenford' ... from 'The Canterbury Tales' by Geoffrey Chaucer) 

    A clerk from Oxford was with us also
    Who'd turned to get knowledge, long ago
    As meager was his horse as is a rake
    I'll undertake, nor himself too fat
    But he looked hollow and went soberly
    Not one word spoke he more than was needed
    And that was said in fullest reverence
    And short and quick and full of high sense
    Pregnant of moral virtue was his speech
