In China, most festivals are of a long history and there are interesting stories behind them. I'll tell you the main festivals according to the order of Chinese Lunar calendar, as for the stories behind, I will post them in my blogs later.
The first month, we celebrate Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival. This year Chinese New Year comes on Jan. 31 and after 15 days is Lantern Festival.
April [this one is according to Julian Calendar], we celebrate Tomb-sweeping Day.
The fifth month, we have one day off to celebrate Dragon Boat Festival.
The seventh month, Chinese Valentine's Day (Double Seventh Day).
The eighth month, Mid-autumn Festival.
The ninth month, Double Ninth Festival (Seniors' Day).
October [this one is according to Julian Calendar], our National Day.
The last month, Chinese New Year's Eve.
Thus, the main festivals are Chinese New Year, Lantern Festival, Tomb-sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Chinese Valentine's Day, Mid-autumn Festival, Double Ninth Festival, National Day, Chinese New Year's Eve. (The pink ones we have holidays according to Chinese Law.)
