We have the same sayings here in Ukraine too:) But you know, every saying can be refuted... And i can add one more saying: A gift in the hand is better than two promises. Actually in my language we say it like this "Better to have little bird in your hand than big one on the sky". It means - sometimes is better to take the things which can you get easy right now than wait and risk for something better. For example - casino. But also it can be used in many life situations.
