You need to be a member of MyEnglishClub to add comments!
Sandra,
luckily we aren't officially friends here so I didn't have a chance to send you some annoying message :D anyway, some people might be interested and since they are busy or not so much into checking the blogs, in this case I find it good idea..to inform them. Anyway, m unable to guess who is busy and who isn't :/
Kiriku,
I can understand it, that is why I started this discussion. On the other hand you can just delete such message and don't need to pay attention to it ;-)
I think it's okay to send messages to our friends about our new blogs. My opinion, if I have time , I will read and give comment. I am never been bothered by this kinda messages
Hmm .. how to answer this question in such a delicate manner? As for me, I will only send message about my blog if that person specifically asked me to do that, such as Mr. Bob and Annah. Even that, sometimes I won't send the message immediately. I will look at their latest activities. If I think they are free and log into EC, then I will send them the message. I don't want to be seemed as intruding to their real life/activities.
In addition, I will only send a message to a specific person if I dedicated such a blog to that person or if that person has somewhat a character in my blog. But only if that person somewhat is not an active member/blogger. Otherwise, if that person is such an active member, such as you, I won't send any message.
With regards to someone else sending me messages about their new blogs, it's their right to do that. Though it's also my right whether I want to read or to comment on their blog(s). But I hope that person will not think I'm obligated to make any comment.
Noas,
I guess my way of thinking is kinda similar to yours ...u know I didn't send message to you or Expector because I know you both read almost each and every blog as active members here. However, I even came across people who asked me to send them msg as for posting the blog. So in this case..I find it ok because I can see they are interested. The thing is that I don't want others to feel like...ohhh myyyy Goood, another msg by Luci :( grrrr!!!
If you could read one of Tara's advice, (which I couldn't locate anymore) she encouraged the bloggers to send notification to all their friends to be able for them to read their works. As this is a learning site, everybody is encouraged to participate in activities that help the learners improve their English. And one of those activities is reading. Commenting is another way of practising our written skill. Unfortunately, not all are encouraged or convinced to see the benefits of reading and commenting.
Your question has nothing to do with Tara's advice. It has something to do with your EQ. You might be thinking the emotional side effect of sending this kind of message to EC members. Another thing is that you might be also concerned with the attitude of EC members when they accepted such message.
** Will they think that I am asking for their comments on my blog?
** Will it annoy them and tag me as "attention-getter" knowing that they only have to look at the blog section if they want to read the latest blog?
** Will they think of the message as something disturbing and insignificant?
** Will they think that the message is kind of forcing them to do something which is against their will?

I don't know how you feel, Luci but you would have noticed that only a few bloggers send notificiation to their friends. So this might be that cause of this post.
But as for me, with or without your message, I will always read your blogs and place my comment whenever possible. I don't care even if you send me a million messages of the same kind.
I think my comment is longer than your post! Ugh! What a shame, lol!

Actually I don't like this kind of message much, because I just read and comment when I feel like a blog.
