Second language

As I know, in some countries, English is considered to be the second language. This policy has made the national strengths for such countries on global market. Do you think a nation (especially the developing countries) should use a popular language to be as its second language?

  •  In my view,English language is the common language to make diffrent people from diffrent countries connect with eachother. In some countries ,English is used as second langauge ,like India..etc,but in others, like yemen,English is used as foreign language ,so English speakers/learners have diffculty in using it daily because there are not many who can speake it fluently, but English is still the tool which helps in dealing with those who can not speak Arabic language.

    • Thank you SaLeM, English nowadays becomes more popular and policymakers of developing countries should take using it as second language in their country into account. Because, normally such nations need to improve their labor resource to compete with others as well as approaches with high technologies, advance knowledge to reach national goals..

  • Thanks Seeker for your prompt response. There are some opinions wondering that should a nation have a second language, it sooner or later will blurs the original language because the young generation would only focus on the second one to upgrade their capability in tough competitive environment nowadays. What do you think about this? With the experience in your country, do you agree with the above point of view?
