Rule of life

Quote  We are given a body, whether we like it or hate, it's ours for life.  So why don't we accept it.  What counts is what is inside!Unquote

(Carter Scott)

I think our body also has rights upon us to keep it clean, healthy and maintained, to look beautiful.  Because if it is cleaned outside, it will be cleaned inside AND THAT'S WHAT ISLAM TEACHES US.

What do you think?

  • Mishaikh,

I agree if our body has the right upon us to keep it clean, healthy, and maintened, to look beautiful. But, it's not always people who are cleaned outside will be cleaned inside. But wait, what is the definition of 'cleaned inside' here?

  • Carter Scott doesn't mean by his quote that cleaning of body is not essential or preferable.  But if one is very much clean in appearance, well dressed, fragrant with perfume, but his inside is stinky, even when he talks, he talks absurd.  So what is the use of body cleaning cleaning.

Besides I have read about some qalandars (sufis, saints), who never kept them clean, but still they were respected.  Why they kept them not very tidy, because they want to avoid people who used to approach them not for knowledge but for worldly benefits.

Anyway, this is the world, here we find different people with different level of wisdom.

I found that quote of carter scott interesting that is why I put it here in discussion forum.

  • You are right. I also have experiened the same here in forum(EC). DO YOU Know taharat is nisf emaan.
  •       My friend, who says; if any one of us is cleaned outside, he or she will be cleaned inside!!!! Sorry, this time I am not agree with you because, I know people who are really very clean outside but, unfortunately, they are full of ..............yes my friend say the word, I know it is on your lips, any how,........and vise versa. But, if every one of us look with grateful heart to the creator and with love and respect to his or her body and to others, he or she will be ,automatically, cleaned inside and out side.

Thanks a lot for this great discussion. As my reading to it, really at that time, I hoped that my English is good, at least, to continue the writing of my thoughts. I wish you my best.

  • Mary :D I just imagined myself at work like... no make up, sweat, stinky, oily hair, not shaved armpits and legs and my boss telling me: "Omggg what happened???" and me saying: "Ehmmm... nothing, I m just searching for... my inner beauty." :D
  • Thanks Risty, Lucy and Mary for participating in the discussion, but I think that our body also has rights upon us to keep it clean, healthy and made-up, because if it is cleaned outside, it will be cleaned inside.

It is an honour to have you all here in this discussion.

  • Thanks setareh for participating in the discussion.

Dear Mishaikh, your post reminded me of one of my favorite speeches on TED. The lecturer said that we as babies all used to look ourselves in the mirror, make faces and giggle then give ourselves a big kiss. If we had continued that way to love ourselves the way we are, we all will have high self-esteem and will focus on inside rather to be concerned a lot about outside.

  • Yes,what's inside is vital, but outside is important, tho not equally important.well, personally, I have no issues in either of the sides. It's about who is content for what she got outside and improve what's from within.
  • Luci, shut up!

Now we (women) have an excuse for not shaving legs and armpits... don't ruint it! XD

Well... if we just focus on what is inside, we wouldn't care about our appearance. Why should we take a shower or bath? Why should we go to hair-dresser/barber? Why should we buy clothes? If we would be just focused on inner side, others should accept us stinky, with long, oily hair, not shaved and wearing some old clothes? The thing is that we are influenced by society we live in and of course we don't want to look like a cave man or somebody from the stone age. It is the best to compromise - we can have both... inner beauty and outter - for us acceptable - good appearance... It gives really cool impression to say...pfff I care just about what is inside of me or inside of others but I would like to see you Mishaikh spending a day with totally stinky guy wearing dirty clothes with smelly fishy breath, taking him home, introduce him as best friend with inner beauty... usually what is outside visible can show us also what is hidden inside, if one is good observer.. we have eyes to watch and brain to analyze and usually those perfectly dressed people, who care too much about their appearance are the biggest idiots because they are too full of themself...
