When looking up new words in online or offline dictionaries, I often find some definitions and sample sentences that fit my situation perfectly. Just like the sample use of the word "challenging" from the Oxford Dictionary in a sentence that reads " I have had a challenging and rewarding career as a teacher." This sentence aptly fits my professional journey as a teacher.
Frankly speaking, I used to be a shy and introverted person who likes to spend most of my time reading books. This character was molded by my first full-time job as a translator and editor for a Christian book publisher from 2006 to 2008. I am not the type of people person. However, since I took up a new profession as an English teacher, I was pressed from every side to be a more sociable, easy-going, and friendly type of person. The first few years of my teaching career teemed with harsh criticism, insult, and rejection.
Nevertheless, thank God that since I got married in 2012, my wife and her family have helped me a lot to tackle my work pressure more vigilantly and persistently. Slowly but surely I have grown into a more professional and mature teacher. When I looked back in retrospect I feel that God has used my teaching career as a way to process me into a more complete and emotionally stable person. Yup, I have had a challenging and rewarding career as a teacher.
