Pleasure and happiness are like, shall I say brother and sister, or maybe cousins? I am just speaking metaphorically. Most of the time, it depends on the senses of smell, taste, sight, touch, and hearing. Pleasure is about emotional involvement.  the emotions and the feelings are always active.

On the other hand, happiness is an inner sensation. Pleasure lasts for a short time while happiness is long-lived. Pleasure is visceral while happiness is ethereal. There are other intersections that pleasure and happiness can meet. The topic has several axes. it is not easy for me to mention all of them. Thanks for your ideas in advance.

  •           Really we couldn’t easily defer between whether if we are in the state of pleasure or in the state of happiness. I think they are tied very closely to each other. Every one of them leads to one another, e.g. if I want to read a book, that is kind of pleasure, I will be happy. And if I prepare myself to read a book I will be happy, that is kind of happiness, even before I read the book. I know it is a complicated situation.

Although they are barely similar, but there are differences between them. In addition to what is mentioned in your comment my friend, allow me to mention one more: Pleasure is taking, happiness is giving. It means that pleasure is given to us by an outer source but happiness springs from the good feelings of pleasure. Anyways my friend, we can’t keep them both out of our lives. We need them desperately to live our life fully. God bless you.

    • Kalam jameel ya ustatha Sewar! Wa lao ya sit alkul! Starting from the last line of your useful comment, I can say that your views are quite true. The extremes of pleasure lead to unfavorable results. As you mentioned happiness cannot be achieved by substances. Sewar, I am very happy about this nice comment of yours on this subject.
