With local train, you can easily find a seat and sometimes take a nap until your house or somewhere you want to get off, but it will take much time because the train has to stop at all stations.

In the reverse, you can arrive your goals quickly with an express train, but perhaps you have to stand all time with a tight mass of crowd in the whole of way. 

So, what will you choose between a local train and express train when their price are same?
