Hi folks. I have a question, surely you can help me. I have been vegetarian since 3 years ago. I have several vegetarian friends too. In one occasion one of them threw the idea that in almost every culture people have a typical vegetarian or vegan food.
Both, vegan and vegetarian don’t eat meat. The difference between them is that vegan avoids all animal products, while vegetarian consume dairy products and eggs. A typical food is a traditional dish that has been eaten in your city or your country for years.
Tell us, please. Where are you from? Are there any typical vegetarian or vegan food in your city or country? How is it prepared?
For example. I live in Salta, North of Argentina. A typical vegetarian food that is eaten here is called “Humita”. It is a dish made of corn. The corn is grated and then mixed with chopped onion, pepper and tomatoes. It also could have cheese. This mixture is put on the husks corn, then is wrapped in it and tied. Finally it is boiled.
It's really delicious!

Compost. It's gluten-free, sugarless and 1000% vegan.
Fortunately for me, I'm living in a country with a mediterranean diet. It's probably one of the most healthy diets and it makes easy for vegetarians and vegans to find lot of different delicous recipes to prepare.
The spanish omelette, for instance, is perfect for vegetarians (it's made with eggs and potatoes)
And typical dishes for vegans (without eggs or dairy products) are the Gazpacho (cold soup made of raw vegetables, very good for summer) and a typical dish from my region: The Castilian soup (made of bread and garlic, very good for winter!)

And if you don't add seafood or meat, the popular Paella can be a perfect vegan dish as well :)
Nice topic. Thanks for sharing!
