Eid Mubarak is just around the corner. I am wondering how do you celebrate your Eid Mubarak. Over here, most of my siblings and their families will gather in my Mom's house. We are really one big family, so some of us will sleep all over the house. LOL.

In the morning of the Eid, normally we will wake up early. After the Eid bath, normally the men will get ready first, we have a simple breakfast. After that, the men will go to the Mosque for Eid prayer.

After the Eid prayer, we will visit the grave of our late father and read some prayer for him. Then, we will gather back in the house and ask forgiveness from each other. normally at this time, we will give packets filled with money to the younger ones.

Then, the waiting game begins for most of us for the kids and relatives come and visit.

So tell me a little bit of how you celebrate your Eid Mubarak.

  • Hi ♥ shabeen ♥, I think it's become a tradition for us to have at least one new dress for this occasion. Yeah, normally we will start cooking the delicious food on the Eve night of the Eid. It's the fun and happy time for my family. Some of us will change the cushion's cover and curtains to new ones. It may be tiring, but there's always laughter around.

Happy Eid Mubarak to you and your family.

    • Hi Stephen, I do love ketupat and rendang. And lemang, and cookies ... and ... LOL. I think you get my drift. So if I want to avoid the Jakarta's infamous traffic jam, I should come at this time of the year. LOL.

Poor you. You have to do your own cooking and wash the dishes.

Happy celebrating the Eid Mubarak, Stephen.

    • Hi Mohammed Elbably, I wonder whether you will let your kids stay up all night at Eid night too? LOL.

Normally over here, my family and I will visit our relatives that lives a bit far on the second day. The first day is spending with visiting friends and family that live nearby.

The holiday is normally for a short time, so it's a bit tiring due to the spending times visiting family and friends.

    • Hahaha Mohammed Elbably, now everything seems longer, but I'm sure a few years after this, you will "Where the time has gone?"

Happy Eid Mubarak to you and your kids and your family.

  •        Hi my dear friend, really it is a very nice topic. I think all Muslims a round the world have the same traditions at Eid Mubarak such as, Eid bath, having a simple breakfast, going to the mosque for Eid prayer, both men and women go to the mosque in my country, visiting the graves, gathering with our siblings at the house of the elders member of the family to exchange the Eid's congratulations with each other, and to give money not only to the children, but also to our grandmothers, our mothers, our aunts, and the men also give their sisters and their cousins, only the females, money or gifts, no matter what their old is. To be honest with you my friend, I can't wait to see what my husband and my siblings would present me in this Eid Mubarak.  I wish you and all Muslims a very lovely Eid Mubarak.

    • Hi sewar, I wish you and your family a happy and lovely Eid Mubarak. I think our tradition of celebrating the Eid is similar. So the difference is only in our clothes and foods. We don't exchange gifts whatsoever, but sometimes we bring food to when we visit some relatives.
