Hello ;
First of all I am sorry because I was not here for a long time for some personal problem that I had.
However,I have a question for you guys and I will be happy if you know the answer.
I saw this sentence in a book ; " Have you ever been to China?"
So , I want to know why he did not say "have you ever been in China?"
What is different/ which one is correct ?
Thank you very much

"to China" because he is describing the place in general. "In China" means more specific for example a town in china then you would say in China. This are my thoughts..maybe someone else can reply.
Thank you very much David.

Extending the answer: "Yes, I was in Beijing during the 2008 Olympics."

Have you ever been TO China is correct... when you use have you ever been + asking about place - you always have to use TO...
It is simple - you must remember it :)
Of course when you answer you also use TO..
No, I have never been TO China...
