Hi dear all MyEC friends, :))
Never think that I'm always obedient. :p I would like you to listen to this short story of mine.
I was riding my motorbike and my friend was in front of me, with his own motorcycle. He was so fast and speeding far in front of me. "Oh, My God. Why am I so slow now... It's RED, but ohh, c'mon!! I'm just late for a second." And...."priiiiiiiittttt!!!!!!" "Ohh, I'm dead!" The police stopped me. :D :D
"Sir, please.... I'm sorry, really sorry, I just follow my friend who is in front of me," I begged pardon.
"You know, Miss. Your action can endanger other people," he replied.
"Yeah, I know," I stoop my head feeling shame.
After being implored for pardon for rather long, he took my vehicle registration certificate, gave me a traffic ticket and told me to attend the hearing two weeks later. You know why he took my vehicle certificate? My driver's licence was expired. LOL..............
What surprised me was..... I found there were so many people who attended the hearing. I asked one of them who was sitting beside me. "What was your fault, Ma'am?". "Oh, I forgot to take my vehicle certificate along," she replied in relax mood. I was thinking of people there were coming every week for doing the same mistake. I wondered how there were so many people. I imagined that I would sit on the chair in front of the judge as defendant for maybe 5 minutes, :D but NO.... One session was attended by so many people that even some of them were standing, including me. The judge called "Onee-chan?" (of course this is not my name, lol). "Present, Sir" I answered. He continued, "Forty five thousand rupiahs" (equivalent to 3 USD). I immediately got out of the courtroom, paid the fine and took my vehicle certificate. Finished. LOL.....
I realized then that the fine is so low that many people repeat the same mistakes, doing it over and over.
Why do I put this in the discussion?
1) I wonder how much trouble you'll get in your country if you experience the same?
2) How much fine you should pay for that case??
3) Are there many street offenders in your district?
Thank you so much for hearing my story and if you're so dizzy or being lazy enough to answer my question, I'll be glad to hear your comment about my experience. LOL... I wish you can share your experience or your knowledge in your country about it.
Happy Sunday! ^_^

You know I live under the sea and there is not any red light :)
Dear Rose,
Is it written where?? Wow! So open rules. But wait..........IMPRISONMENT UP TO 5 YEARS..... ??? :o [shocked]. If my country now used such a rule, maybe government would need to build more jail .... :D :D
The fine in Germany are fair enough. Sure, strict law makes people obedient. ^^
Thank you for sharing such a precious information.

You're right, Teacher Dan. :(
Many people GOT OFF EASY in my country. Thanks for the phrasal verbs. And wow, demerit points, $325 dollar fine, conviction?, increase insurance? :D and further investigation.... So complicated... I can imagine people will do much effort to ignore making mistakes. :D
And,,,, you gave them champagne?? Nice try, Sir. :D Your students saved you, it was graduation. ^^
Thank you so much for sharing your information. Sure, I must be careful then. It is about people safety anyway. :)

Here in Germany we have strict rules and laws. We have road traffic regulations and a list of fees, where it's written down what we have to pay if the rules are violated.
For example: if you pass the red traffic light :
Traffic light at "Red" pass = 90 €
... with a risk of = 200 €
... with damage to property = 240 €
Traffic light with more than 1 second shining "red" pass = 200 € 1 month & depending on the offense money penalty, loss of driving license and imprisonment up to 5 years is possible
... with endangering 320 € 1 month & depending on the offense penalty, loss of driving license and imprisonment up to 5 years is possible
... with damage to property 360 € 1 month & depending on the offense penalty, loss of driving license and imprisonment up to 5 years is possible
Dear Onee, let me tell you that your traffic laws are very soft. You got off easy! You know that the USA is a federal country and laws differ, but in general, if you drive through a red light, the fine is not the only penalty, red light tickets have different penalties;
The learning licenses can be suspended when they accumulate more than 4 demerit points.
Drivers should do everything possible to keep their driving records clear, fight any traffic ticket and understand what their options are for fighting a red light ticket.
Yesterday night I was stopped by the police and was given a speed ticket that is about $300 although there was almost nobody on the road. Fortunately, they forgave my having a few glasses of shampagne as it was graduation. Otherwise, I would have great problems!
Just be careful driving and always watch the traffic lights!
Dear Mr.Salem,
That's a fair punishment. But seems not simple to measure the degree of risk.
Greetings for Libya. Thank you so much for sharing this precious info. :)
