"The evil eye is a malevolent (ominous) look that many cultures believe able to cause injury or misfortune for the person at whom it is directed for reasons of envy or dislike."

I personally don't believe in it but when a thought is repeated for thousand times in society, u come to do believe in it!!!!!!!!!!

Actually in order not to be hurt by this, in English it's said "Knock on the wood" (if I'm not wrong) and the same in Persian "Bezanam Be Takhte" with the same meaning.

Do u have an idiom in ur mother's tongue such use?

Have u ever been hurt through that?

What do ppl do in your country to prevent it? (in some countries, some stuffs like the ones below are used:

Nazars, charms used to ward off the evil eye." wikipedia*

  • In Iran culture, people believe in it and to prevent it, they burn Sepand ( a kind of seed ) and they believe the smoke from Sepand prevent evil eye. In most wedding ceremonies, they use this tradition.

Also they make a kind of Nazar bad (evil eye) with the seeds of Sepand and hang it on the wall.
