I agree with Nafis at all. I believe that all depends of values of two people and how they see their together life. It could be hard because of family who expect to follow same background but it must be good enjoy whole life with one who love you and understand. Well...all depends of lucky to find the right person, even they find each other alone or their parents arrange for them.
I don't think different background is a very important issue because if it were, now you and I shouldn't talk here. What matters is that if they have some common ideas or values. Two different people from totally different background may have the same ideas or values about life and can get along very well. For example, on MYEC, I have some friends from different countries but we are very look alike in terms of how we see or think about life.
dear Nafis but let me disagree with you here, sometimes the background is very important when it comes to choosing a spouse, but who knows what life has prepared for us, maybe one day we will fall in love with a person very different from us, with different religious and cultural and social background, what we will do then ?
