In my opinion, those are very different things. Those don't improve each other according to my experiences. You can be relax when you are writing , since you can think also you have more time than when you speaking. On the other hand, speaking is harder because maybe you can forget something and rules.
I personally think that writing can enhance your vocabulary and once your vocabulary get improved for sure others can notice it when you talk to them. Reading, writing it is all about vocabulary and if it is somehow hidden in your brain, do believe me one day you will start using words or expressions you didn't have idea you know them :)
In my viewpoint, writing can help you just to write better, but it hasn't power to make you get ahead in speaking, because this last one depends much more of often practice. I myself am a living example of that issue, because I have been reading English for a long time and it seems sometimes I can't get much beyong n my conversational abilities even thought the huge amount of new words I discover everyday. But, since, I'm giving priority to speak in English when I am free to do so I'm starting feeling this is the right way to reach an authentic great English speaking. That's just it! There's no big secret to speak better, just practice and practice.
If you blog very often, you can just increase your vocabulary to put in practice when speaking, but, just writing, definitely it hasn't a "special power" to enable you to start speaking overnight. That's my view!
Last but not least, I want to thank you Rajesh for the invitation to take part in that discussion, it's opportunities like this that we're given us "boosts" to write and speak another language.
I think any practice of English will improve your whole standard, so writing practice would help spoken English slightly, for example by enriching your vocabulary and make you use them in speaking with their correct pronunciation, of course. However I would also say that there are many other things you can do to improve your spoken English that will cause a much more significant impact than writing!Listening, reading aloud, talking to others and also record your voice in many activities in English can help, too . Thank you Rajesh for raising such an important question! Best wishes!
Thank you Rajesh for inviting me to participate in your debate . The same question also surfaces; What are the characteristics which enable native people to speak spontaneously and fluently in good styles in front of media or social occasions? or Why some of native speakers can express their thoughts in clear ways whereas some of them can’t ? Speaking is a gift. Generally , in any language the skill of speaking is required confidence and bravery. That is why some even illiterates native speakers can express their thoughts clearly and some educated can’t. That is what I think of course .
let’s talk about your questions precisely, as learners of foreign language we should have firstly confidence and bravery besides learning situational conversation which enables us to how native speakers speak in every place and situation then practice what we learn as much as we can .
Writing is a different case. It is a kind of hobby. Writer writes when he gets inspiration. He feels relax as long as he writes .Writing seems as an outlet. It also develops persons to learn more words and grammar progressively but not speaking skill. Speaking is required listening, imitating and living with native speakers.
Dear Tawfeeq, thank you so much for taking time to write your precious view on it. And, I am agree with you on "why some illiterate speakers can express their thoughts clearly and some educated can't". Thank you for giving this example. Love it.
