It's generally accepted that women are less truthful than men. Read this short article and give your opinion on the subject.
Big boys don't cry
A group of men were invited to plunge their hands into a bowl of icy water and tell a researcher how much it hurt. Half of them reported back to a man, the other half to an attractive woman. Those who talked to the woman claimed to suffer significantly less pain than the others. When women were asked to do the same, they reported the similar level of pain whether they were talking to a man or a woman.
Are women more truthful than men?

No, but men like to show-off or impress women. Maybe that's why they lied.
Interesting story, but I think men try to impress ladies with their physics and power
No that's not it. It's so, that, if the woman here really were that attractive, then I would be able to forget the pain, that I felt before coming here. But if I get hurt here, the, the pain might feel even greater, because the brain might get confused, since it's forced to handle 2 different emotions at once.. So it might depend of which one is dominating, the pain, or joy. If pain dominates then joy amplifies it, and vice versa. So it would be a total SM situation. ^_^
In that test: Maybe the females did report the pain in similar level because the male whom they had to report to wasn't enough attractive to them.. Maybe the researchers should have had to give them some delicious cake, or smth. when they had to report it. :)
Hardy, you are so interesting person to communicate with... So unpredictable and paradoxical! About cakes.... No, we are not ready to do everything for a piece of cake! Don't even think so!
Don't worry I don't have any cake for you. ^_^
What a pity, Hardy!
I assure you my mom is the most attractive one among us! lol I love you MOM!
Yasemin, maybe it sounds a little bit strange and funny, but I love your mom very much too. And of course she's the most beautiful mom in the world! No doubts!
In my opinion, the research has achieved its aim. Men hide their feelings when they talk to women or men, it doesn't matter. The problem with denying, avoiding and hiding one's feelings is evident everywhere, from the boy who won't let himself cry for fear of being called "like a girl or kid or whatever", to the man who can't be sensitive for fear of being seen "like a gay". Men who show their feelings/weaknesses are often told they are too sensetive, emotional, overreacting, weak; while men who hide their feelings are viewed as strong, confident, logical. But, I want to affirm a new discussion to the topic. "Isn't it a little bit women's fault if men hide their feelings towards them?"
About the question. I think this research's aim is different. It doesn't mean men are untruthful. Men just hide their feelings to seem stronger when they see an attractive woman.
Yes, Yasemin, I understand what you are talking about. I'm making the same mistake. I always say to my son:"Don't cry! You're a man! You have no right to cry! Only weak people can cry and show their emotions! Only girls can cry! Don't be a girl!" It's so incorrect! And the problem is more serious than we can imagine. In future these impossibilities to express themselves are resulted in different diseases. I agree with you that we're guilty a little bit. We want to see strong men besides us and sometimes or even very often we can't forgive men their weakness.
